Our Mission
At the beginning of this school year, we, 11 th J, students from Escola Secundária Dr. Joaquim Gomes Ferreira Alves, started a new adventure: we became the ambassador class of the Blue School. A Blue School is a Portuguese educational program, which aims to promote understanding of the importance of the ocean, creating more responsible generations that contribute to its sustainability.
Our project – The World We Want – focuses on showing people what is the ideal world for all living beings and future generations, basically, the world we want to live in and the one we are trying to build. We attempt to motivate everyone to help us on this mission to achieve sustainability, together with the respect for nature and for all living beings (humans included).
As we usually say, “What we stand for is what we stand on”. Basically, we are developing many activities that promote respect for the planet and all the lives it sustains, that teach how we can live in a more sustainable way, ensuring a more promising future and a better world for us to live.
After all, our mission relies in making a change, and in making everyone believe that we all can make a difference. Because that is the truth, we all can make a difference. As Mother Teresa said, what each one of us does is a drop in the ocean, but without it the ocean would be smaller.
